Brussels, [07/11/2024] – In a historic milestone for the Practitioners' Network for European Development Cooperation, Members gathered on November 7th in Brussels to celebrate the first CEOs meeting under Austrian Development Agency and Expertise France co-Presidency and the signing of a new charter, marking the Network's transition into a formalised international non-profit association.
Originally established in 2007 as an informal gathering of a few committed development actors, the Network has grown into a robust alliance of 24 active Members, all driven by a shared mission to enhance European development cooperation with partners around the globe.
This pivotal moment symbolises not only the formalisation of the Practitioners' Network but also its renewed commitment to fostering deep collaboration across the sector. In an increasingly fragmented development landscape, the Network’s dedication to consolidating efforts around issues such as the climate crisis, displacement and migration, SDGs progress, and the EU's Global Gateway initiative is more critical than ever. As a formalised association, the Practitioners’ Network stands to increase its influence and capacity to respond to global challenges in partnership with the European Commission and other international organisations.
The event in Brussels was a tribute to the collaborative spirit that defines the Network. Looking ahead, the Network remains committed to working alongside the EU and global partners on critical initiatives like the Global Gateway, leveraging its collective knowledge, expertise, and on-the-ground presence to advance shared goals.
As the Practitioners’ Network enters this new chapter, it does so with the confidence that, together, its Members can achieve even greater impact, embodying the spirit of #StrongerTogether.
Signing this Charter is more than just a legal step; it embodies the mutual respect, and shared vision that connect Practitioners´ Network Members.
